Stack Attack!

Fresh Ink Card by Hallmark sent from Daryl

For all of you stackers out there,
this one's for you!

I did not realize April marks the 17th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide that claimed over 1 million lives. Barbara Walters reminded her viewers of that fact yesterday on The View by discussing Same Sky and introducing their beautiful line of bracelets.

Same Sky is a fair-trade company founded by Francine LeFrak in 2008. Their mission "is to empower women worldwide and inspire a movement of women empowering women...SAME SKY aims to be a part of the global movement lifting women out of poverty by giving them the tools to become entrepreneurs and lead self sustaining lives." Based in Rwanda and expanding to Zambia, the Same Sky program trains and employees HIV-positive survivors of the Genocide to make beautiful crocheted/beaded jewelry. These women learn a marketable skill which in turn gives them employment and independence so that they are able to accommodate for themselves and their families.
Interested, I checked out their website to learn more about this company and found there to be many ways to support these women and this cause; the easiest, buy a bracelet or necklace online. There are many colors and styles to choose from. You can attend an event, a trunk show, or you can host a "Bracelet Party" at your own home. 100% of the proceeds get reinvested into Same Sky to employ more artisans.
You might think to yourself, how do bracelets correlate to eating, drinking, being merry and dieting? Well now, a girl still needs look good when following her regime, right?  So, why not accessorize by stacking a few of these colorful beauties on your arm and  "be part of the movement, women empowering women under the Same Sky."
